- Citizen or Recluse?
The
practices, which apply yoga to the stages of life, and the
lectures, which will consider how we learn yoga and from
whom, are linked by the conviction that yoga is a life-long
process of self-education. It is not an academic pursuit,
nor need it be one pursued in isolation from society. Yoga
is a process of learning by living, of gradually and
patiently internalising both practice and theory, until we
can quite naturally apply all aspects of yoga in our lives
and convey this yoga to others in our communities. We learn
from our teachers, from the example of their teachers, the
great yogis of the past, from patient study of the teachings
those yogis have passed down and above all from our own
experiences as we live and practice those teachings
throughout the changing circumstances that affect both
ourselves and society.
